Stolen Cattle And Bad Checks Lead To 2 Arrests

Investigators with the Agricultural Crime Unit of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture have charged a man and woman in connection with theft and bad checks written for 298 cows valued at $428,010.66.

Captain Phil Fedun and investigator Mike Whaley learned that a man and woman were writing worthless checks at Middle Tennessee stockyards to purchase cattle.
Most of the cattle were then transported to Kentucky and sold.


On Tuesday, Johnnie Andrew Fisher, 33, of Lawrenceburg was arrested and charged with theft of property for a writing a check on a closed account totaling $151,454.50 to Tennessee Livestock Producers.

On Thursday, Casey Delaney, 27, of Russellville, Ky. was arrested at a family member’s home in Springfield. Ms. Delaney faces worthless check charges in Lawrence County and Maury County for writing bad checks totaling $276,556.16 at the Lawrence County Stockyard and Tennessee Livestock Producers.

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture investigation unit and Kentucky law enforcement provided assistance in the case. 

Fisher has bonded out of jail. Ms. Delaney remains in custody. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
