Lee University Offers Free ESL Camp

  • Friday, July 10, 2015

The Lee University English Language Center will offer a free ESL (English as a Second Language) camp for rising 1st–6th grade students, July 13–17 from 9 a.m.–2:45 p.m., in the Walker Memorial Building on Lee’s campus.

“Providing this free ESL camp to children in our community is really one of the high points of what we do in the English Language Center,” said Assistant Professor of TESOL and Linguistics Dr.

Chris Blake. “Our camp theme changes each year, along with the activities, but the fun learning environment is always there.”

The camp will focus on the development of writing, reading, speaking, and listening skills through interactive crafts and activities. All non-native English speaking children are welcome to attend. Lunch and snacks will be served daily.

“It is such a wonderful experience for both the teachers and the students,” added Dr. Blake. “Parents are always amazed to see how much their children grow in their English confidence and skills in just one week.”

Enrollment will be limited to the first 30 children who sign up, so early registration is encouraged. For more information or to register, contact Dr. Blake at 423-614-8223 or cblake@leeuniversity.edu.
