Planning Study Requested For South Broad Street Area

  • Tuesday, July 21, 2015

City Councilman Chris Anderson said he is requesting a planning study for the growing South Broad Street area.

A proposed council resolution says the South Broad area is planned for traditional urban development with multi-story buildings and a mix of uses intended to provide a concentration of goods and services that attract commerce within a walkable urban environment while also building on the natural assets of the river, creeks and mountains."

It was noted that the Riverwalk is being extended through the South Broad section.

The resolution says the area is intended to promote higher density development that supports transit and multimodal transportation including automobile, bicycle and pedestrian traffic.
