George Edward Dowdy, 81, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at his home.
He was born on Oct. 7, 1934 to the late George and Vera Dowdy; and was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Kay Dowdy Randolph.
George was a lifelong resident of Bradley County and was of the Baptist Faith. He retired from Bradley Co. Rd. Department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed the mountains and his little buddy (Snowball).
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris J. Dowdy; three sons, Bobby Dowdy and girlfriend Ora Cantrell of Cleveland, Benjamin Dowdy and wife Sabra Dowdy of Clarkson, KY and Randell Dowdy and his wife Tammy Dowdy of Cleveland; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;several nieces and nephews; and two sisters, Francis Dowdy of Shelby Township, MI and Midge Qualls of Cleveland.
The family will hold their own private memorial service.
