Tommy Baker
Tommy L. Baker, 74, of Chattanooga, died at his home on Monday, May 16, 2016.
Tommy was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and a 1959 graduate of Red Bank High School. He was a retired general contractor and landlord. Tommy was a longtime faithful member of Red Bank Baptist Church and the Men’s Fellowship Sunday School class. He was a member of the Red Bank Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and L. J. Baker, Jr.; a grandson, David Lewis Bass.
Tommy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 58½ years Cheryl Locke Baker; children, Tammy (Bob) Bass, Cheryl Ann Goodman, and Anisa (Kenneth) Lowrey; his five grandchildren, Jonathan and Rebekah Bass, Zach Goodman, Elaina and Katherine Lowrey; beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, and 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the North Chapel with Dr. Fred Steelman and Reverend Bill Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tommy’s name to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Foundation Hope Lodge, 2008 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37203.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
