Clarence Douglas
Clarence E. Douglas, 82, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Doris “June” Dean Rusbridge Douglas; by his father, Richard Earl Douglas; his mother, Carrie Rice Blackwell Douglas; his sister, Elsie Marie Douglas Fine Amburn Dyer and brother, Roy Ewen Douglas.
He is survived by his son, Norman “Bret” Douglas and two step-daughters, Marion “Lee” Finley and Kathryn “Gale” Finley; two step-sons, “States” Rights Gist Finley, III and Ronald “Reese” Rusbridge and sister, Roberta Reed of Ringgold.
Clarence served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He worked as a contractor and an electrician with the EPB before starting his own guttering business, “The Rain Catchers.” He later became a realtor.
Clarence joined the Brainerd Masonic Lodge # 736 F. & A. M. in 1959. In 2002 he joined the Alhambra Temple, A.A.O.N.M.Shrine, The Chattanooga Consistory A.A. Scottish Rite, The York Rite & in 2005 Sunnyside Chapter No. 359, O.E.S. along with his wife, June. He was the Worshipful Master of Brainerd Lodge # 736 F. & A. M. in 2006. He served as president of the Scottish Rite Society from 2007-2008. He received the honorary 33rd Degree of KCCH in 2008 in The Scottish Rite, Valley of Chattanooga. He was a volunteer van driver for Alhambra Shrine Hospital Transportation Unit, transporting orthopedic patients to Lexington, Ky. Shrine Hospital & burned children to Cincinnati, Ohio Shrine Hospital Burned Unit.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Frawley Road Baptist Church. Pastor Ken Wolfe will conduct the funeral at 1 p.m. in the church.
