Signal Mountain Falls Short In Class A State Soccer Championship

Alcoa scored in the 23rd and 45th minute Saturday afternoon to beat Signal Mountain 2-0 in the Class A state championship game in Murfreesboro. 

Signal beat Richland in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals and Chuckey Doak in the semifinals to earn their spot in the final, 

Alcoa out shot Signal 7-6. Signal keeper Amanda Muschel had one save in the goal. 

It was Signal Mountain's first trip to the girls state tournament.  They end their season with a 11-7-1 record.
