CCS Board Of Education Approves Turf For Blue Raider Football Field

  • Thursday, March 9, 2017

Cleveland City Schools announces they will partner with GreenFields Sports Turf Systems to begin installation of a state of the art, professional grade turf on the Blue Raider Football Field for upcoming 2017 football season.

The turf field will display the historic and traditional block C on the 50-yard line.  The Raider Blue colored end zones will present Cleveland and Blue Raiders in the end zone in white letters trimmed in red.  There will be three-foot-wide white sidelines with the player’s box in blue.

According to David Turner, athletic director at Cleveland High School, “This would not be possible without the support of our school board and our Director Dr. Dyer.  It’s been a pleasure to work with Greg Phillips and GreenFields on this exciting project."

Cleveland High School Principal Mrs. Autumn O’Bryan said,” Our school board has shown us once again how committed they are for our students today to have the best.  This type of investment will enhance our campus, support many of our school programs, and elevate the Cleveland brand.  It’s a great day to be a Raider. ”

The installation of the turf field will begin in the near future so that it will be ready for the first home game on Sept. 8 against Knox Catholic.

Head Football Coach Scott Cummings said, “This is a great day because the brand of Cleveland Football is elevated.  I came to Cleveland because of the amazing support of the school board and the City of Cleveland.  This reaffirms the vision that a project like this can have on our school and community.”
