Mayo’s Bar & Grill, or simply Mayo's, is a family establishment since 1987, burgers & beer joint, Hog stop, karaoke hangout, and a weekend stop for Chattanooga Live Music on 3820 Brainerd Road.

Mayo's is the last bar hop or beer stop on Brainerd Road before entering the tunnels through Missionary Ridge toward downtown.

I have been in Mayo’s a few times. One of the most memorable times was last year when Roger Alan Wade & The Last Band performed with the presence of the unforgettable “Dr. B” a/k/a Gary Haskew with his lovely wife Rita. The place was packed with fans of both as Roger & Dr. B were often a staple of entertainment there.

One of many songs Roger wrote and performed was captured during that visit as “Here I Go”.

The night with Roger Alan Wade included Rick and Dawn Mayo (sister) singing several songs. Rick, being a gifted guitar player, gave the packed house his rendition of Prince’s song “Purple Rain”.

It’s a fun place to catch up with friends, and the menu and drink selection will meet your appetite for sure. It is one of the most neighborhood friendly environments for friendly and prompt service, food, drinks and always some form of entertainment. Mayo’s is a popular place to throw darts too. Mayo’s was very much into the local dart leagues and one entire wall of the bar is dedicated to dart boards; pictures of tournament winners from years past line the yellow walls.

The live music often begins at 9 p.m. on the weekend, often with two or three bands. The past Saturday night provided a heavy line up with As A Leper, Subkonscious and PLNVET.

The photos include As A Leper with band members Caleb Jordan, vocals. Alex Summey, drums. Curt Collins, lead guitar. Josh Wilkins, rhythm guitar. Michael Carter, bass. Their song list includes; Remain, A Different Lullaby, So Cold, My Mistakes, Saved By Fire, Through Head, Change, and This I Swear. Quick check this music video As A Leper Live from Mayo’s

Also, photos include Subkonscious with members Carl Foshay, vocal, guitar, Chris Hullander, bass, vocals, Nick Price, guitar and Heath Price, drums. Their song list includes Long Patience, Persistence of Hope, Rhiannon (Fleetwood Mac), I Ran (Flock of Seagulls), Another Way, Tourniquet (Marilyn Manson) What You’ve Become, Crooked Mirrors, Mask & Pretty Face Video link Subkonscious Live from Mayo’s

PLNVET loaded in almost midnight and we were unable to stay for their performance. The self-described music deduction “as the very moment Rock and Roll conforms to a "formula" for radio, it ceases to serve the purpose for which it came into existence.” PLVNET is a return to the primal rock rebellion only dressed for the future of music. Mixing heavy rock and Indie with ambient soundscapes and dance beats.

We will listen in on PLNVET soon as their talented musicians include six guys that write, record, perform and produce their own brand of Alternative Rock.

Members include; Wes Hartman – Vocals, Jonas "Nathanimal" Luttrell – Guitar, Will Martin – Guitar, Josh Cannon – Drums, Alex Condra - Bass & Beard Oil, Michael "Red" Souther - Keyboards and Percussion, James "Kid Saturn" Wood -Turntables/Soundscapes.

More information on this Chattanooga-based band is on their social media page as https://plvnet.bandcamp.com/

The growth of Chattanooga Live Music the past eight years has been phenomenal as we started on a mission through photography, videography and relationships with local venues, festivals and entertainment artist and artist’s management organizations to put a face on the rich music/entertainment resources. The wealth of talent with singers, songwriters and musicians in the Chattanooga area provides a connection to main stream entertainment opportunities.
