Retired From TVA, Then Volunteered In Many Capacities

Mary Hartline McMillan, 92, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on May 17, 2017.
 
Mary dedicated her life to her family, as well as serving others and her God. She retired from TVA; and, upon her retirement, her work in this life truly began. She worked tirelessly and served on the boards of numerous religious and charitable organizations, such as Bachman Children’s Home, Meals on Wheels, Senior Neighbors, Santa for all Seasons, Presbyterian Women, UTC Presbyterian Ministry. She served in many capacities for New Hope Presbyterian Church and Church Women United. Late in life, her special project was the time she spent working and serving the Newton Child Development Center. In May of 2000, Mary was awarded the Chattanooga Community Best Practices Award by the mayor for her service to the community.
 
To sum her life, Mary was a proud member of the Greatest Generation that knew what was important and what was not.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond McMillan and her parents, BK and Mamie Hartline. 
She is survived by her three children, Raymond Michael McMillan and Melinda (Randy) Lowe, of Chattanooga and Patrick (Judy) McMillan of Oak Ridge, TN; four beloved grandsons, Chris (Erin) Lowe, Matt (Lauren) Lowe, Ryan (Rachel) McMillan and Michael (Diana) McMillan as well as three great-grandchildren, Maggie and Caroline Lowe and Oliver McMillan.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her longtime physician, Dr. John Laramore and staff, Morning Pointe Assisted Living Staff and the Chattanooga Kidney Center.
 
Memorial services commemorating her well lived life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 22, at New Hope Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be conducted at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 21, from 4-7 p.m. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, Valley View Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Hope Presbyterian Church Mission Fund, 7301 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga TN 37421 or Newton Child Development Center, PO Box 807, Chattanooga, TN 37402. 
 
Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
