Success Ready
First Things First announces that Success Ready, a two-day career prep and job fair for teens, is back for its second year.
“Last year was our first Success Ready event, and we were overwhelmed by the response from teens, parents and organizations across the board,” said Julie Baumgardner, president and CEO of First Things First. “We are excited to provide this opportunity to these teens as they begin their career journey. They truly are the future of our community.”
The first day, June 1, will be all about the basics. Teens will learn what to wear for an interview, the importance of making a good first impression, how to write a resume, manage conflict in the workplace and gain lifelong skills that will help them communicate effectively.
Several guest speakers from the community will also share their expertise. Rebekah Taylor, career services coordinator from the American Job Center, and Demitrius Russell an employer from Rock City, will give great insights on how to land and keep a job by covering topics such as workplace etiquette, appropriate dress, the importance of a good attitude, work ethics and more.
The second day, June 2, will feature a job fair and networking event with a variety of employers who are ready and willing to hire. Potential employers include: Republic Parking, The Southeast Career Center, Little Caesars, Food City, McDonald’s, Krystal’s, Bojangles and more.
Success Ready will take place at Chattanooga State Community College. For teens to register, visit FirstThings.org. Entry free is $5 and covers lunch, plus all materials needed.
