Joe Grady Musick, 76, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on June 14, 2017. He died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.
Joe grew up in Bristol, Virginia. He attended college at Mercer University, School of Pharmacy, where he met his future wife of 53 years, Brenda Parker Musick of East Ridge, TN. After becoming a pharmacist, Joe joined the U.S. Army as a medic and then the U.S. Reserves in Chattanooga as part of the Military Police. Joe began work as pharmacist at Kingwood Pharmacy, which he and Brenda later owned until they both retired earlier this year. He also began Kingwood Custom Compounding Pharmacy. Joe was a successful pharmacist, businessman and entrepreneur and had an unstoppable work ethic. Joe was most at home in the mountains and his love of hunting, fishing, and Paso Fino horses kept him going. Above all else, Joe’s love and pride of his family is what made him most happy. Joe’s need to keep going strong never stopped despite his increasingly troublesome and recent battle with Parkinson's Disease. Joe imparted his wisdom, work ethic and strong love for the outdoors to all lucky enough to know him. Most important to him was giving these things to his 6 grandchildren, who he considered to be his most important and successful accomplishment of his entire life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Grady and Audra Musick of Bristol, VA. He is survived by his wife Brenda; son, Dr. Steven Grady Musick (Renee); Tracy Musick Rolleston (Henry), and his grandchildren, Ashley Ann Rutledge; Sam Grady and John Wallace Musick; Tarver Susanna, Tess Elizabeth and Henry Tarver Rolleston II. Brother, John Musick; Sister, Sandra Musick O'Dell (Clayton); and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held in the east chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 19. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 18 from 3-7 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the Chattanooga Memorial Park.
