The fifth and final tournament of the fall schedule is upon the Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team. The squad travels to Greensboro, N.C., this weekend for the Grandover Collegiate.
The two-day, 54-hole event tees off Saturday morning for a 36-hole opening day on the East Course at Grandover Resort. A final 18 Sunday is the last round of 2018 for the Mocs with the spring portion starting in early February.
Four of the starting five are familiar faces. Etienne Brault, Will Porter and Oliver Simonsen have started each of the first four, while Lake Johnson re-enters the lineup for his fourth event.
Freshman Dominic Jones is making his first collegiate start in this, his third event.
Eight Mocs are in the field. Freshmen Leon Bader and Moritz Lammel are joined by sophomore Connor Nolan as the trio plays as individuals.
It’s the fourth time the program has competed in UNCG’s fall event. Former All-American Chris Robb ’14 won the event when it first moved to Grandover in 2012 with a 9-under 207. The Mocs are 10 over in eight total rounds at the venue.
This edition has tallied par or better totals in three straight events. The stretch started with a 13-under winning finish at the Memphis Intercollegiate followed by 6 under at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate. That continued with 7 under at the AutoTrader Collegiate last week. The last time the program posted four par or better finishes in row was the spring of 2007. It’s the only instance to date.
