YMCA Camp Ocoee, an operating site of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga association, received a $75,000 contribution from community partner, Olin Corporation on Monday.
"Olin’s donation is part of the YMCA Camp Ocoee Capital Campaign efforts, which will reposition and renovate its grounds over the next few years to better accommodate the thousands of youth and families it serves each year, as well as better position the premises as a year-long resource to the community by way of family and corporate retreats, rentals, weddings, family camps, Adventure Guides & Princesses and more," officials said.
“Olin is pleased to make this contribution to the YMCA for the renovation of Camp Ocoee,” said John McIntosh, executive vice president for Olin Corporation.
“Throughout the years, Olin has been proud to support YMCA efforts like Camp Ocoee and countless other activities, programs and first-class facilities to ensure that everyone in our community has a safe place to enjoy recreational activities.”
"YMCA Camp Ocoee has impacted lives for nearly 100 years by planting seeds of impact through summer camp and retreat center experiences, and currently serves more than 6,000 people each year.
"YMCA Camp Ocoee’s estimated growth over the next 100 years will mean an impact of 500,000 people. A variety of much needed upgrades, renovations and enhancements to Wasson Lodge, The Ellis Dining Hall, a brand new program center, additional main camp cabins and renovated Johnson Family Cabins will enable this growth and position needed program space for lasting memories and experiences to occur," officials said.
“We are immensily grateful for this donation and support of Olin Corporation,” said Janet Dunn, president and CEO for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga. “YMCA Camp Ocoee’s renovations will not only deepen the Y’s impact in the community, but also enhance the lives and experiences of all who utilize the camp and we are thankful for partners like Olin who are supporting our efforts.”
