The Dalton Marine Corps League – Cpl. Glenn Pair Detachment 1309 – will be hosting a Community Appreciation Day in conjunction with celebrating their 10 year anniversary on Saturday, June 16, from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The event is free to the public and everyone is invited to attend.
The celebration will be held at the Dalton Green – downtown Dalton, Selvidge Street. Attendees will be treated to a complimentary lunch, music from The Casey Adams Band, and children will enjoy the bouncy inflatables and playgrounds provided. A Cruise-In will be held at the BB&T parking lot – lower section.
Dalton’s own Tom Phillips, The Duke of Dalton Mornings on Hope 93.3 FM, will be the master of ceremonies for the event.
Participants may enter to win a gift from Maryville Jewelers, Balta Rugs and other local merchants, just for attending – no purchase necessary (must be present to win).
The Dalton Marine Corps League officials said they would like to increase their community involvement by encouraging local citizens to join the league. According to Kelly Johnson, past commandant and founding member, “We want to continue to carry on the ideals and values of the United States Marine Corps, offering camaraderie and opportunities for our members to bond in support of the projects that we undertake, the largest being our annual Toys for Tots campaign, to promote awareness of the league’s existence in our local community and continue to uphold the traditions and ideals of American freedom and democracy.”
Membership is open to all active, reserve, or honorably discharged Marines, or to anyone who believes in the traditions and values of the USMC.
