Vascular Institute of Chattanooga (VIC) announced Nurse Practitioner Jenni Wilson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is now a Certified Wound Specialist by the American Board of Wound Management.

Ms. Wilson joins Nurse Practitioner Shana Hilson in wound care certification at VIC, located off of Shallowford Rd. Together, they will meet the growing need to provide optimal care for patients with acute and chronic wounds of patients from southeastern Tennessee, north Georgia and northeastern Alabama.

“The benefits of a comprehensive wound center can provide rapid assessment and treatment for all wound types,” said Dr.

Chris LeSar, a vascular surgeon and VIC’s founding physician. “At VIC, we are able to perform a vascular circulatory assessment to promote rapid healing, and provide our patients a broad bases wound program with access to innovative technology. Adding Jenni as our second nurse practitioner to be certified in wound care, we are now able to treat even more patients with our state-of-the-art treatments.”

The wound care clinic offers treatments including wound specific topical medications, compression wraps, total contact casting and offloading, incision draining and packing, biopsy, debridement, skin substitutes, and non-invasive vascular ultrasound assessments.

Ms. Wilson graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2009 before obtaining her nurse practitioner degree with the UT School of Medicine in 2013.

“I take the time to listen to my patients and let them know that I care about their specific needs, and achieving a positive treatment outcome,” Ms. Wilson said. “This new would care certification is a new way to extend that passion.”

New patients are currently being accepted. Appointments can be made by calling 423.602.2750.
