2 Hikers Rescued After Getting Lost On Lookout Mountain

  • Sunday, October 27, 2019

Two hikers are safe after being rescued by first responders on Lookout Mountain.

The couple, in their early 20s, left from Cravens House on Sunday. They ended up getting lost, and then it got dark.

Around 7:15 p.m., they called 911 and 911 was able to ping their cell phone for a GPS location.

CFD’s Quint 14 set up command at Sunset Rock because that was the closest location for them to come out.

Two firefighters made their way into the woods, located the hikers and brought them out with the help of the Lookout Mountain Police Department and park rangers.

The hikers were not injured.

They asked for water and a ride back to their car.

Chattanooga Fire Department officials said, "We appreciate the support from the agencies who responded to help with the search." Mutual aid was requested from Lookout Mountain and Hamilton County Special Tactics and Rescue Services (STARS).
