Helen E. Sanders, 95, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Helen was born and raised in Benton, Tn., in 1928. She was happily married to her husband, Harold, for 68 years before he preceded her in death exactly five years earlier on May 19, 2019. She was a homemaker for a time and then worked as a pharmacy assistant at Lyle’s Drug Store for many years.

Helen enjoyed spending time outside in her garden, tending to her flowers and plants, and enjoyed spending her inside time reading and watching the news. She was a connoisseur of chicken salad, chicken fingers, bologna sandwiches and sweet tea. She had an infectious laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. A beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she will be dearly missed by her family and those that knew her.

Surviving family includes her daughter, Sharon Tarvin; granddaughter, Ashley Tarvin and husband, Joel Cilio; great-grandson, Finnegan Cilio and great-granddaughter, Tessalie Cilio and sister, Dottie Cochran.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain David Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Harold.
