The Bridge At Ooltewah Resident Wins Regional Christmas Card Contest

Tuesday, November 26, 2019
Bette Higgins, a resident at The Bridge at Ooltewah, an assisted living facility, recently had her artwork featured on a Christmas card.

Each year, senior living company Century Park Associates invites residents in its independent living, retirement and assisted living communities to submit Christmas card designs. A total of four designs are printed and distributed throughout Century Park.

Ms. Higgins’ design of a boy looking out the window at a snowman is one of this year’s winning entries.

“I enjoy everything about art – the precision, the beauty, the relaxation and the joy it brings to others,” said Ms. Higgins. “I love being able to share my love of art and colors with people.
It keeps me young. It takes my worries away.”

Originally from Ohio, Ms. Higgins has spent most of her life in the Chattanooga area. She didn’t get involved in art as a hobby until she was in her 70s. She has now completed more than 250 paintings, and she mainly paints pictures of homes after studying pictures of them.

Roy Exum: A Bless-ed Christmas Gift

The website is “Little Dumb Man” and, because I am most certainly one of those, it is a continuous joy for me to visit. The story was entitled “15 Signs That Show Someone is a Real, True Friend.” I read it and printed a copy off to save ... (click for more)
