J.C. Franks, age 88, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday November 6, 2019 at a local hospital.

He was born March 20, 1931 in Dalton, Ga., a son of the late Glenn J. Franks and Effie Grace Cummings Bishop.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael T.H. Franks; daughter, Amber Franks; grandson, Stevie Postell; brothers, Troy Franks and David “Freddy” Franks; and sisters, Lois Lingerfelt, Edith Bartin and Gladys Louise Colbert.

He retired from the United States Army after more than 22 years of service. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.     

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anna Monica Graser Franks of the residence; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Steve Postell; brother, Richard Bradley Franks; sister, Linda Faye Brown all of Dalton, Ga.; grandchildren, Christian and Molly Morris, Sonya Postell; great-grandson, Jeffrey Peeples; niece, Melinda Jones; and nephews, Rick Franks and Christopher Carter.     

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. J.C. Franks will be held Friday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Dr. Danny Cochran officiating. Entombment will follow in the Franks Family Mausoleum at West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9  p.m. on Thursday.
