Reba Thornton
Reba Cummings Thornton, born October 7, 1928, to Pat and Artie Cummings of Burnsville, Ms., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2019.
Reba was the oldest of seven siblings and was a 1947 graduate of Burnsville High school of Burnsville, Ms. Reba was a nurse and a homemaker and attended Hixson First Baptist Church in Hixson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Thornton, her father and mother, Daniel Pat Cummings and Artie Alexander Cummings, two brothers Paul and Mack Cummings, two sisters Margie Cummings O’Neal and Milbra Cummings Wood.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Cummings Norris of Burnsville, MS and brother Jack Cummings of Tuscumbia, Ms.; three children, Paul (Roxie) Thornton of Signal Mountain, Van (Sandy) Thornton of Hixson, and Sally Thornton of Brentwood, Tn.; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Pelfrey, James Paul (Mary) Thornton, Becca (Brent) Whitaker, Ashley (Lance) Narramore, Adam (Kara) Thornton, Madison (Eva) Thornton; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at noon on Thursday, March 28, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
