2nd Anniversary Of Cheeburger Cheeburger Collapse Marked (VIDEO)

  • Friday, March 29, 2019

Today (Friday) marks the second anniversary of the Cheeburger Cheeburger building collapse near the riverfront.

Remarkably, no one was injured in the sudden demise of the front of the old Shelton Flour Mill that dated to the Centennial year of 1876.

Bricks suddenly began to descend at the front of the two-story building across from the Tennessee River at Market and Aquarium Way (Second Street).

The entire historic building was later taken down.

One point of interest in the building was that it showed on the Aquarium Way side an example of the city's "Underground Chattanooga." There were windows that were halfway below the built-up section of that steep street.

The prime downtown property remains vacant.

The collapse was caught on video, and can be viewed here.
