Red Bank Vice-Mayor Hollie Berry
Red Bank Vice-Mayor Hollie Berry was recently chosen to serve a second term as vice chair of the executive board of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County/North Georgia Metropolitan Planning Organization. The MPO’s executive board includes locally elected officials and a representative from the governor’s office.
"I am honored to be selected once more to serve as the vice chair of our regional Metropolitan Planning Organization,” said Vice-Mayor Berry. “Our MPO is critical to coordinated transportation planning, securing competitive federal and state funding for infrastructure maintenance and improvements, and establishing priorities like ensuring the safest possible transportation network for every user.”
Vice-Mayor Berry said the MPO action she is most looking forward to this term is their Safe Streets and Roads for All and Vision Zero policies slated for adoption this August.
She believes no number of transportation-related fatalities or serious injuries should be considered "acceptable" and this policy will provide a solid framework for member jurisdictions to make similar commitments to the safety of all road users.
The Metropolitan Planning Organization is responsible for coordinating the transportation planning activities for Chattanooga-Hamilton County, Catoosa County, Ga. and portions of Walker and Dade counties in Georgia. The organization assures all jurisdictions in the region work together to create a transportation network that makes sense and takes into account long range planning and regional trends and needs, officials said.
