Baseball: Wilson Central Beats Soddy-Daisy, 7-1, In Trojan Classic

Wilson Central jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead against Soddy-Daisy on Friday in the Trojan Classic at Tom Higgins Field.

The Wildcats hit the Trojans with three first-inning runs and steadily built the margin to the final six-run win.

Wilson Central collected eight hits off two Soddy-Daisy pitchers – Chris Branam and Kaleb Petty. Branam started and went three innings, giving up six hits and four runs while striking out one and walking one. Petty came on in relief in the fourth and yielded two hits and three runs. He fanned five and walked five.

The Trojans were held to four hits by Wilson Central’s Hayden Baker – singles by Taylor Flint, Spencer Gore, Landon Maynor and Hayden Maynor.

Baker gave up four hits and one run and struck out four and walked two.

Soddy-Daisy’s run came in the fifth inning. Hayden Maynor and Landon Maynor each had singles. Hayden Maynor scored on Mekell Cranmore’s groundout.
