Reverend Cedric Henson, pastor of Shepherd's Voice Christian Fellowship Church, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, in Chattanooga, surrounded by his family.
He was a 1970 graduate of Chattanooga City High School. He studied at Howard University and received a bachelor’s degree from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Further theological studies included Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In addition to being a devoted pastor, Rev. Henson worked at Mueller Company in Chattanooga, as an employee and the director of training in the department of Human Resources.
As a result of his loving, generous spirit, passion for the Lord, and charismatic personality, Rev. Henson was loved and respected by many. His Christian walk was not without trials and challenges, but he journeyed on with the love, grace, and mercy of Jesus Christ.
His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Henson; son George Henson; parents; Charles L. Henson, and Daisy B. Henson; sister, Charlotte A. Brown.
His memory will forever be cherished by his fiancée, Mattie J. Moran, children: Daphne Williams, Tonya A. (Joseph) Martin, Cedric A. Henson Jr., Christopher Williams, and Christian A. Henson; brother, Lewis A. Henson (Billie), grandchildren: Jayla Copeland, Faythe Martin, Kendall Martin, Henson Davis, Triston Henson, Willow Henson, Carmeshia Williams, and Trevon Williams, and great grandchildren: Erabella Williams, Amarys Williams, Camille Williams, Zion Williams, Jakryan Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and Gertha Lee along with many other close friends.
Reverend Henson will lie in state after noon on Friday, April 26, at the funeral home, and the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.
