Ethel Scoggins
Ethel Burchfield Scoggins, 86, of Cleveland, departed this life on Friday, May 17, 2019, at home.
Born on June 7, 1932, in Polk County to the late J.H. and Erma Shahan, she had lived the majority of her life in Bradley County. She was a member of Samples Memorial Baptist Church and recently attended Philadelphia Baptist Church. Ethel loved racing, her church and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.R.Scoggins; her son, Roger Brock; and seven siblings, Buddy, Clint, Horace, Marcus, and Lenos Burchfield, Lucille Taylor and Bonnie Harris.
Survivors include her children, Janice Brock of Benton and Lamar(Tammy) Scoggins of Cleveland; step-children, Danny Scoggins of Cleveland and Shelia Smith of Cleveland; grandchildren, Scotty Brock, Janet Richey, John (Arianna)Ownbey, Julie(Chad) Elliot, Misty Brock and Shana Blair; great-grandchildren, Holly Miracle, Hayden Ownbey, Kambryn Ownbey Raeliegh Ownbey, Riley Richey, Macey Richey, Dillion Brock, Christian Brock, Selina Brock, Alexis Durham, Haley Elliot, Gema Faye Blair, and Ezekiel Blair; great-great grandchildren, Emma Miracle, Peyton Miracle, Aylana Bowman, Eden Tanner, and Elijah Tanner; brother, Ralph (Ruth)Burchfield of Cleveland, a very dear friend, Faye Hooker of Cleveland and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Ethel Scoggins will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at the Grissom Memorial Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Jason Barnes and Brother Mark Cameron officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Lamar Scoggins, John Ownbey, Hayden Ownbey, Ethan Blair, Scotty Brock and Chad Elliot serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at the funeral home.
