Billy Blackburn
Billy Edward Blackburn, 89, has left his home in Ooltewah, Tennessee, died on May 24, 2019.
Bill was born on July 10, 1929, in Knoxville. He was a fourth generation Southern Railway employee where he rose to the rank of general foreman through hard work and dedication; a proud family tradition.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Samuel and Mary Lou Blackburn; sisters, Margaret Lindsey, Mildred Allen, Louise Wilshire; and brothers, Jack, Buddy and Robert, Jr.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Norma; his devoted daughters and “sons of the heart”, Diane (Donnie) Runyan, Candy (Mike) Brooks, Kathy (Jay) Dedmon, and Tina (Jon) Lutz; seven grandchildren, Wendy Brown, Nate Hood, Damon Runyan, Lacey Cordell, Gabe and Thad Dedmon and Erin Lutz; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, many friends and special neighbors.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Bishop Tim Ashley officiating.
A private entombment will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 28, from 1–3 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
