  • Thursday, June 13, 2019

Mary Lou Goss, 89, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, James Edward Goss; parents, L. Bert and Mattie Lou Day; and daughter-in-law, Karen Goss.

Mary Lou is survived by her four children, Jim (Emelia) Goss, Barry Goss, Theresa (Mike) Goodner, and  Cindy (Mark) Womack; grandchildren, Jimmy (Katie) Goss, Alex (Alyssa) Goss, Laura Asbury (Alan) Cooper, Jason Goss, Nathan (Kati) Goodner, Jeff (Christine) Goodner, Jessica Womack, and Joshua Womack. She was affectionately known as Gigi to her great grandchildren Will, Sophie, and Bo Goss; Mason and Ava Goss; Landon and Cooper Asbury and Kate and Mattie Cooper. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou raised her family at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church where she was active in Women’s Circle and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.  She taught her family to recognize God’s Word as Truth and commit their lives to their Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an ardent prayer warrior throughout life for every family member.

Mary Lou was born and raised in LaFayette, Ga., and attended Edmondson Business College in Chattanooga where she met James. After marriage they raised their family in Chattanooga. She lived her latter years in Knoxville at a memory care facility where she touched many hearts and lives with her kind-hearted spirit. Although she lost her memory, her faith and relationship with the Lord were still evident in her words and concern for others. She was well loved by all who cared for her. We rejoice in the life she lived for the Lord here on earth and look forward to reuniting with her in heaven for eternity.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, from 1-2 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson.

The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. with interment in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
