Richard Anthony Jones was sentenced on Thursday to serve seven years in federal prison for selling meth.

He appeared before Judge Travis McDonough.

Jones was arrested after he was spotted by police inside a Walmart in Bradley County. He was tased when he tried to flee.

Police found a loaded gun and a quantity of meth in his vehicle.

Prosecutor Scott Winne said Jones had committed various crimes since he was 18, including leading police on a 90 mph chase in Alabama. "He has been involved in nearly constant criminal conduct," the prosecutor said.

Judge McDonough spoke of the toll that meth takes on an individual. He said of the 42-year-old Jones, "If I just looked at you and had to guess I would say you were 65, but you're four years younger than me."

He added that when meth addicts get to 60 or 65 "it's not a pretty sight. There's not much left of them."

Jones said, "I've got young children I want to get home to. I can't take back what I did, but if I could do it all over again, I'd do it different."
