Julie Ann Helms, 79, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019.

She was born on Feb. 8, 1940, in Atlanta, and was the daughter of the late James and Helen Pruette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Helms, and two siblings.

Julie loved playing tennis, working in her yard and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Catherine (Don) Dawson, of Ooltewah, four grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Cooley, Melissa (Nathan) Carter, Lindsay (Alan) Smith, Scott Dawson, and seven great-grandchildren, Gavin and Gabriel Cooley, Noah and Millie Carter, Hailey, Tessa, and James Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Colloms officiating. Interment will follow in the Ooltewah Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at the funeral home.

The family would like to send a special thanks to The Lantern at Morning Pointe of Collegedale and to Hearth Hospice for their exceptional care and love.
