UTC's Saddler Named Defensive Player Of The Week

 University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sophomore transfer Abbey Saddler earned her second Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week nod this season, the league office announced Tuesday.

Saddler picks up her second honor in three weeks after Chattanooga played to a 1-1 draw against Alabama on Sunday, Sept. 8. The sophomore goalkeeper played all 110 minutes, allowing just one goal despite facing 16 shots. She tallied three saves, all in extra time, in the contest. 

The Mocs head to Nashville to take on No.
9 Vanderbilt in a Thursday night tilt at the Vanderbilt Soccer and Lacrosse Complex. The match kicks off at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time and will be streamed live on the SEC Network +. Links for video and live stats will be available on the women’s soccer schedule page at GoMocs.com.

Also nominated for offensive player of the week: Anjela Kricak (ETSU), Alyssa Frazier (Samford), Bailey Gale (Chattanooga), Julia Winter (Western Carolina) and Katie Gilligan (Wofford).

Also nominated for defensive player of the week: Erin O’Hearn (Furman) and Melody Mezzina (Western Carolina).
