The Cleveland State volleyball secured a 3-0 win over Bryan College JV on Wednesday evening.
The first set, Cleveland State won 25-17. Hannah Collins was on fire offensively in the set,
recording four kills in the frame. Abbie Stinnett was also a major contributor in the Lady
Cougars’ scoring, killing the ball three times. Madeline Dasher and Sydney Allen paired together
to post a block assist, while each recorded a kill in the set.
The second set, Cleveland State secured a 25-20 victory. Stephanie Burke led the team in
scoring this period of the game, killing the ball six times. Stinnett had two blocks and two kills in
the frame, while Collins posted three kills. Katlyn Knight also scored on a service ace in the set.
In the third set, the Lady Cougars played their best all-around game of the match, defeating the
Lady Lions 25-13 to head home to Cleveland with a victory. Cydney Brock recorded three kills
and also assisted on a block with Stinnett. Knight scored again on a service ace, and Allen
joined her while also killing the ball once.
“These girls came together and had fun tonight,” head coach Alizabeth Atnip said. “They finally
put it together with some great blocks from Abbie, Sydney leading us in assists, and Katlyn
making some great second ball passes for us when we needed it. Both Hannah and Stephanie
made a big impact for us at the net as well.”
The Lady Cougars will return home for their next match on Monday as they host Gadsden State
with some momentum. Match time is set for 6:30 ET.
