UTC Volleyball Opens SoCon Play Wednesday At Samford

  • Monday, September 23, 2019
After finishing up non-conference action last weekend at the Hokie Invitational, the Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team gets set to open Southern Conference play on the road against Samford Wednesday night inside the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Ala.

First serve is set for 8 p.m. ET and will be streamed LIVE on ESPN+ through the ESPN App platform.

Chattanooga suffered a three-match sweep last weekend and enters the mid-week match with a 5-8 record. Samford began the year as winners of six of its first seven before dropping a trio of matches at the Western Kentucky Invitational to amass a 6-5 record entering Wednesday's match.

Playing on the road at Samford hasn't been kind to UTC over recent memory as the squad looks to snap a nine-match losing skid in Birmingham.
The last Chattanooga win in the Magic City came back on October 27th, 2010.

Senior Dani Szczepanski leads the point scoring attack this season, leading the squad in kills (137), kills per set (2.98), hitting percentage (.316%), total blocks (26.0) and points per set (3.63). She surpassed 800 career kills during Saturday's match against Arkansas State and currently ranks fourth all-time with a .301% career attack percentage.
