Bethel SuperHeroes Run For Hope

The Bethel SuperHeroes Run for Hope 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk has been expanded this year to include both an in-person event starting on Bethel’s Hixson campus, as well as a virtual event for those who prefer to participate from their favorite walking or running spot. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, with line up at 8:15 a.m.

All registration is online this year and Bethel has instituted simple guidelines to keep everyone safe and spaced apart.  You can see the full measures here

Virtual Heroes for Hope can choose from the traditional 5K or 1 Mile Fun Walk, or up the difficulty by running a virtual 10K or Half Marathon.

Superhero costumes are highly encouraged (and add to the fun) but they are optional.

"We consider each runner or walker a true Hero for Hope and worthy of the cape,” said Rosalind Connor, Bethel president and CEO. “The proceeds of this event benefit kids who come to Bethel to overcome trauma. In addition to having a lot of fun, those who join us are making a difference by changing lives.”

BBB Identity Protection Day Failure

I was truly disappointed in the BBB’s actions on Saturday. They advertised a Shred and Prescription Medication take-back day in order to help protect identity. It was advertised from 9 a.m.-noon. I arrived on Saturday before 11 a.m., more than an hour before the scheduled and advertised end. I found a line of cars going both ways on Lee Highway, blocking traffic in both directions. ... Roy Exum: Stewart Statue Will Stay

There is no doubt the Hamilton County Commissioners will respond negatively tomorrow when a petition that calls for the removal of a Civil War statue from the courthouse grounds is brought before the group. The nine-person board will likely defeat the petition by a very predictable 6-3 margin and, for what it’s worth, the Tennessee Historical Commission will almost certainly balk ... (click for more)
