Dimple Young
Dimple Louise Young, of Chattanooga, 88, received her heavenly wings on October 19, 2020, at the Alexian Brothers following a lengthy illness.
Dimple was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, James Young, Sr.; children, Willie Clyde Roberson, Frances Young Westfield, Raymond Young, and Shannon Young; her parents, Cora (Charlie) Cokley and Will Henry (Arlee) Johnson; and several grandchildren.
She leaves to mourn her children: sons, Gary (Ruth), Charles (Teresa), Steven (Stacy) and David Young of Chattanooga, James (Ella B.) Young Jr. and Howard Smith of Rutledge, GA; daughters: Lynda (James) Louis of LaPlace, LA, Brenda (Melvin Allen) Drake and Sarah Young of Chattanooga, Ruby Lee (John) Garrett and Shelly Smith of Rutledge, GA; 33 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; 55 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Greather Tinker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins (including Emogene White) and friends (including Ms. Ms. Juanita Reel and Ms. Tangal L. Richie). She also was honored to be the “mother” of her best friend’s, the late Irma Fortson, five children: Horry, Thomas “Tommy”, Beverly “NeNe”, Sharon, and the late Ronald “Puddin”.
Dimple will lie in state on Friday, Oct. 30, from 12:30-5 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9-10 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Family services will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Minister David Young, Jr. as the eulogist. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
