Roger Crossen, age 68, of Varnell, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by his father, Sam Crossen; and stepfather, Winfred Bryant.

Roger was a veteran of the United States Army and served his community in a number of ways, most recently as a member of the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Crossen; sons and daughters-in-law, Cory (Teresa) Robertson of Temple, GA., Chris (Allison) Crossen of Dalton, and Tony (Mandy) Crossen of Cohutta; mother, Frances Bryant of Varnell; sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte (Jeff) Kovach of Ringgold; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sarah and Ricky Darnell of Cohutta, Robert Holt of Dalton, and Jimmy and Anne Holt of Young Harris, GA.; grandchildren, Bailee, Brody, Emerson, Abby, Sam, Nick, Drew, and Ashton; special friends, Mike and Debbie Roper of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Carter, Anslee, Kenslee, Raiden, Finley, and Taydon; many special nieces, nephews, and neighbors also survive.

The family will receive friends at Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. with a private service following. The service will also be available online.

For social distancing, there will also be a guest book available to sign outside under the south carport of the funeral home beginning Wednesday evening.

Because of his love for the youth of this community, the family has established a scholarship in his name. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Roger B. Crossen Memorial Scholarship Fund, First Bank of Dalton, C/O Larry Harrison, 118 N. Hamilton Street, Dalton, GA 30720.
