Baylor's Alisha Chandra Wins Zone Spelling Bee, Advances To Regional

Baylor seventh grader Alisha Chandra was the winner at the Zone level of the Scripps National Spelling Bee on Tuesday. She advances to the Regional bee on March 7 at UTC.

The next step from the Regional is the National bee.

Alisha qualified for the Zone bee by winning the competition at Baylor on Jan. 26. Also qualifying via the Baylor bee were seventh grader Julia Gardner in second place and sixth grader William Hubbard in third.

William finished tenth at the Zone bee while Julia missed the competition due to illness.
