Native Of Chattanooga Was Accomplished Business Woman

Beverly Rains Horton, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on February 14,  2020.

 

A native of Chattanooga, Beverly was an accomplished business person. She established Mount Vernon Real Estate in 1970, which was one of the first female owned real estate agencies in Chattanooga.

 

With her charm and cutting edge fashion she lit up any room she entered. Her sharp wit was legendary. Beware of a birthday card from Beverly. What a great legacy.

 

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Jim Horton.

 

She leaves behind her son Mike Dixon (Mindy); step daughters, Robin Wheeler, and Debbie (Richard) Dedmon; step-son, Chris Horton; grandchildren, Taylor Dixon, Kaitlyn Dixon, Parker Dixon, Amanda Childress, and Sara Davies; great grandchildren, Marley Davies, Everett Childress, and Forrest Childress; sisters, Marie Cleek, Jeanette Kuba (Jim); brother Lamar Rains (Martha).

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. 

 

The family will reiceve friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. on Monday.
