Ryan, Richard Allen “Dick”

Richard Allen “Dick” Ryan, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away on February 13, 2020 in a Cleveland hospital.  

Dick was born on June 19, 1952 in Chattanooga and spent his early years in Ooltewah. He and his family moved to South Pittsburg in 1959, where he attended grammar school and junior high. He went on to graduate from McCallie School in Chattanooga in 1970. He attended Vanderbilt University for two years and transferred to UT Knoxville, where he received bachelor of science degrees in history and hotel management. Dick worked his entire career in the hotel industry. He was an avid sports fan and a big supporter of the "Big Orange".  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Eugene and Juanita Ryan, and brother, Thomas Ryan.  

He is survived by his brother, Gene Ryan, Jr., of Kimball; sisters, Camille (J.D.) Loyd, of South Pittsburg and Kathy (Terry) Worley, of Hixson; two nephews, Ryan (Brooke) Loyd and Brett Lomenick; niece, Laura (Mark) Ellinor; three great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

Visitation will be held at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg on Sunday, Feb. 23 from noon-1:30 p.m. Central time. A graveside memorial service will be held at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper at 2 p.m. Central time.
