Massengale, Ray Preston (McDonald)

Ray Preston Massengale, 96, of McDonald, passed away on April 6, 2020. He was born on July 17, 1923 to the late James and Lydia Massengale. Ray was a lifelong resident of this area and he was currently the oldest member of Antioch Baptist Church. Ray was an extremely hardworking man who spent his entire career in the furniture business, working for Jacksons Mfg. for many years before starting his own company.

In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Katherine Massengale; son, Bob Massengale; and numerous brothers and sisters.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory four sons, James Massengale (Marsha), Ken Massengale (Nellie), Ron Massengale (Jewell) and Ray Massengale Jr. (Sheila); half-brother, Morris Parsons; lifelong friend, Mary Beringause; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Due to the limitations of COVID-19, the family will hold private services on Friday. A celebration of Ray’s life will be available via live stream at 1 p.m. on Friday at www.companionfunerals.com or our Facebook page. He will be laid to rest at Antioch Community Cemetery. His grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
