Melvin DeWayne “Nippy” Kyle, Sr., 62, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at his residence.  

He was a 1975 graduate of Riverside High School.  He attended Olivet Baptist Church.  Melvin was formerly employed by the City of Chattanooga Public Works in the Maintenance Department. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard “Skippy” and Ruby Kyle, Sr.; brother, Kenny Timmons; grandparents, Joy Smith and Daisy Smith; uncle, Maurice Smith; and aunt, Rosa Smith. 

Survivors include his wife, Kenya Kyle; son, Melvin DeWayne Kyle, Jr.; daughter, Precious Kyle, both of Chattanooga; brother, Howard (Daisy) Kyle, Jr. of Goose Creek, SC; sisters, Annette Kyle (Tyrone Stevenson) and Lynnette (Dedric) Bradley, both of Chattanooga; uncles, Melvin Smith and Joe Logan, both of Chattanooga; aunts, Helen Jackson of Converse, TX and Thelma Buckles of Chattanooga; niece, Princess Burney; nephew, Cedric Bradley of Chattanooga; a host of cousins; other relatives and friends. 

Melvin will lie in state on Friday, May 22, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the family service to follow at 1 p.m. with Deacon Howard Kyle, Jr. as the eulogist. 

Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
