Mary Daugherty

Mary Janice Farley Daugherty, 80, of Cleveland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

She was a member of South Cleveland Church of God since moving to Cleveland in 1981, but has been home bound for many years due to her health.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her family was her life and she served them faithfully as long as she could.  She was a wonderful cook and everyone loved to get around her table as often as possible.  Mary enjoyed raising her children but her passion was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was the true definition of a selfless person, she sacrificed so much so her family could have what they needed. She was very much loved and admired and will be missed by many.

She was born on Nov. 29, 1939, to parents McKinley and Oma Farley of Harlan, KY.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl P. Daugherty, who recently passed away in January 2018, whom she missed so much; her siblings, Lee Farley, Jack Farley, Boone Farley, Lloyd Farley, Lyde Farley, Cecil Farley, Lester Farley, Paul Farley, Silas Farley and twin, Martha Mullins.

Survivors include her loving children, Robert Daugherty, Sandra (Chuck) Henderson and Earlene (Kevin) Guire, all of Cleveland, Paula Farmer and Paul Daugherty, both of Kentucky; grandchildren, Cassie Hall, Brianna Meler, Ben Henderson and Madelyn Guire; great-grandchildren, Adalynn Hall and Cyrus Henderson; many nieces and nephews in Kentucky and Ohio that she was very fond of, but most dear to her heart were her nieces Hazel Simpson, Janice Curry and great-niece, April Simpson.  The family also would like to give special thanks to Patricia Ogle, very special friend who cared for our mom in the past year during her illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home.  Interment will be held in Chattanooga National Cemetery for immediate family due to current Covid-19 restrictions.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.

We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Daugherty family guestbook at www.fikefh.com.
