Jerry Wayne Brown, 70, of Rossville, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, in his home.

Jerry was born in Trenton, Ga., but lived for many years in Cleveland and Akron, Oh. He was of the Baptist faith and was a proud U.S. Navy veteran having served on the USS Semmes. Jerry retired from CARTA after 30 years of service as a Supervisor. In his free time, Jerry earned his private pilot’s license and loved the freedom of flying. He was a “jack-of-all-trades” who enjoyed: photography, Civil War history, vertical caving, metal detecting, and wood working. He could work on and fix just about anything.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, R.L. and Olvalene Brown; and son, Robert Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Brown; son, Aaron Brown; daughters, Chrissy (Rusty) Parkhill and Melissa (Travis) Owensby; grandchildren: Lulu and Jonathan Parkhill, Laurel (Chandler) Freed; and Valerie (Robert) Baker; several great grandchildren; siblings: Jack (John) Brown and Doug (Rebecca) Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel. Webcasting is available on Lane’s website. A private family interment will be held in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Condolences may be shared at lane-southcrestchapel.com.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, from 5-8 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville.
