Alvin Dimaggio "Poppa Alv" Evans, age 82, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at a local health care facility.
He was born in Lyerly, Chattooga County, Ga. on July 27, 1937 to the late parents, John Leonard Evans and Lelia Finley Evans. He was preceded by his daughter, Angelita Evans, and brother, O’Neal Evans. He was retired from Roper Industry.
Survivors are his loving family, daughter, Cecelia Evans of Cartersville, Ga.; three sons, Stacey (Deborah) Evans, Steffen Evans, and Juan Evans of Summerville, Ga.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; three brothers, Everett Evans, Arthell Evans, George (Rosa) Evans; two sisters, Dorothy Ann Evans of Holland, Ga., Irma Jean (Calvin) Starks of Florissant, Mo.; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and special friends.
A graveside service and interment will be on Saturday, July 18, at 1 p.m. at the Summerville Cemetery, Summerville, Ga. with Pastor Timothy Williamson, officiating.
His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday, July 17, after noon.
