Janice Baumann Smith passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on July 2, 2020

Janice was a Chattanooga resident for 48 years, formally of her beloved hometown of Mountain Lakes, N.J.  Born on Feb. 26, 1949, she was preceded in death by her parents George H. Baumann and Helen Price Baumann and her brother Ray Baumann of St. Louis, MO.

Janice was a cherished wife, mother and grandmother. 

She is survived by her husband Sgt. Major Robert (Bob) F. Smith USMC Ret., her son Sean Dickerson, her daughter Dana Dickerson Peters (Shawn), her daughters Julie Harville (Chris) and Jennifer Rodgers, her sons Josh Smith (Jennifer) and Jason Smith (Bernice) as well as 12 lovely grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Janice is also survived by her brothers, Donald Baumann (Vicki) and Richard Baumann (Margie), her sister-in-law Judy Baumann and her beloved nieces and nephews.

Janice loved to travel and was a faithful member of her church, Red Bank Cumberland Presbyterian. She had a wonderful voice and loved singing in the church choir, playing the flute and attending musical events. 

The family would like to thank the nurses of Hearth Hospice and all of our friends and family for their love and support. 

We will miss most of all her love of life and her laughter.

The family will be hosting a visitation on Tuesday, July 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 8, at 12 p.m. with procession to follow to Chattanooga National Cemetery for committal promptly at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Jim Buttram and Dr. Phil Sumrall will be presiding.

We would ask that all attending comply with standard COVID-19 procedures for everyone's safety.
