As the unforgettable summer of 2020 rolls on, so does GoMocs.com's look at the incoming recruiting class for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling program. This week's featured newcomer is Noah Castillo, a highly regarded prep talent from the state of Florida.
Castillo is a three-time state champion from Lake Highland Prep in Orlando, Fla., where he competed for head coach Mike Palazzo. He was fourth at the Ironman and took the Class 1A title at 152 pounds as a senior.
"Noah is a high-level athlete and I am excited to see him make some noise right away," stated UTC head coach Kyle Ruschell. "He is a guy that expects to win and does what it takes to make sure it happens."
Castillo was ranked as high as No.
6 in the nation (Flo - 12/18) during his senior year. He was also No. 12 on TrackWrestling's March 10 high school list and No. 13 at 152 pounds on the March 18 Intermat High School Rankings.
"Our alumni and fans are really going to enjoy how this guy competes," added Ruschell. "This freshmen class has work to do but I like the timing of this class with all of our starters coming back. Our room is going to be fun to coach in every day."
Castillo is the fourth of Calli and Beatris Castillo's five boys. He also considered Purdue and North Carolina, before choosing the Mocs to major in Business at the UTC Rollins College of Business.
