The Furniture Shoppe Rebrands Back To Its Roots As Fowler Brothers Co.

  • Tuesday, August 11, 2020

The Furniture Shoppe and The Patio Shop, one of the oldest businesses in Tennessee, rebrands back to its roots and changes its name to Fowler Brothers Co. The new name also comes with a new logo and full website redesign which commemorates the company’s history of serving the Chattanooga area for over 135 years.

Fowler Brothers Co. has undergone an extensive campus renovation and has recently
announced the grand opening of its newly remodeled store. The all-new website is live and can
be visited at fowlerbrothersco.com.

“The rebrand of The Furniture Shoppe and The Patio Shop to Fowler Brothers Co. reflects what
our business has always been, a Fowler family tradition. Since the 1800s, our family business
has sold the highest-quality furniture at affordable prices to the Chattanooga community and
beyond,” says Carter Fowler, president and fifth-generation leader of Fowler Brothers Co. “We
are excited to announce the rebrand of our store and share our love for the deep history it
reflects.”

The Fowler Brothers Co. legacy began in 1885 by James G Sterchi who sold goods door to door
out of a horse-drawn buggy. In 1911, he and his brother, John Calvin Sterchi, and his son-in-law,
John O. Fowler, opened Sterchi Brothers and Fowler located in downtown Chattanooga next to
the Tivoli Theatre at Seventh and Broad Streets.

Fowler Brother Co. later moved to a new location off I-24 at Fourth Avenue in Chattanooga and
established a new name as The Furniture Shoppe and The Patio Shop. This is the only location
currently operated by family members of the original Fowler Brothers Company.

In 2016, Carter Fowler became the president of The Furniture Shoppe and The Patio Shop, now
in its fifth generation. Four years later in August of 2020, The Furniture Shoppe and The Patio
Shop rebranded back to its roots as Fowler Brothers Co.

"The Fowler Brothers Co. commitment to always provide exceptional craftsmanship and service
has led to strong customer loyalty that has held steadfast for generations," officials said.
