Prentice Cooper Wildlife Management Area (WMA) recently added an archery range. This public range allows area archers a place to practice and sight in bows.
The range consists of five lanes. One crossbow lane allows archers to practice their skills up to 50 yards.
Four traditional bow lanes allow archers distances of 20, 30, 40 and 50 yard targets. Prentice Cooper WMA Manger, Clint Smith, saw a need for the addition. Visitors often requested to set up a target and practice on WMA. Smith stated, “We’re pleased to add the range and provide additional services for archers.”
The range is located next to the shooting range on the WMA. Archers must have a hunting license or purchase a range permit to use the range. The WMA does not sell permits and those using the range must purchase prior to use.
Permits are available at any TWRA license agent or through gooutdoorstennessee.com. For a complete list of public ranges visit: https://www.tn.gov/twra/hunting/firing-ranges.html
