Horace Haston
Horace “Ace” Harold Haston, Jr., 94, peacefully entered heaven on August 15, 2020.
Horace was born in Nashville on Dec. 4, 1925, and attended Central High School in Chattanooga, TN. At the young age of 17, he proudly enlisted in the Army Air Force and served as a bellygunner on a B-24 Liberator in the South Pacific during World War II. Horace successfully owned and ran Haston's Quality Amoco Service Station in East Ridge for many years. He was an owner/operator of a transfer truck and was able to drive the country and share many stories from his travels. Horace had a deep love for his family and enjoyed traveling in his RV. He attended Terra Vista Baptist and had an unmatched sense of humor, a loving hug, a strong hand shake, and a warm smile were always sure to be experienced by all who knew him. He was a man full of wisdom and generosity – his legacy will be passed on to future generations through our memories and he will live on forever in our hearts.
Horace was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Smith McArthur; step-father, Joe McArthur; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Brown, brothers, Joe and Charles McArthur; and nephews, Tony and Scott McArthur.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn “Nita” Haston; daughter, Alice (Dan) Norton; step-sons, Kenny (Malinda) Milliken, David Milliken, step-daughter, Terri (Dwayne) Riden; David (Stacy) Sewell, Gary (Karen) Sewell; brother, Bill (Mary) McArthur; grandchildren, Danny (Kellie) Norton, Michael (Hannah) Norton, Larry Brown, Amanda Brown, Jill (Jason) Moses, Taylor (Austin) Temple, Katie Milliken, Christy (Joe) Rodriguez, Melissa (Andy) Cubberley, Carson Riden, Robert (Catie) Sewell and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, at 12:30 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7 p.m, and Friday, from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville.
