Longtime Physician At Memorial Hospital And His Private Practice

Dr. Thomas P. Miller passed away on September 10, 2020.

 

He was a resident of Apison, and passed away at home from natural causes.

 

He was born in Norfolk, Va., and in 1976 graduated from medical school at the University of Texas, San Antonio. He was chief resident at UNC, Chapel Hill, NC. In 1978 he moved to Chattanooga and was a partner with Anesthesiologist Associated, Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. He then opened a private practice for Chronic Pain Management and devoted his life to that cause. He served in the Air Force as a NCOIC in charge of the Coronary Care Unit at Keesler Air Force Base. He also served as a Major in the Army during Desert Storm. He was a member of Signal Mountain Lodge #758 F&AM, and 32 degree Scottish Rite, Alhambra Temple Shrine.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Miller and Doris Bishop Miller.

 

He is survived by his first wife, Jean Miller, and their two children, Robin (Michael) and Justin (Stacey); four grandchildren, Graham, Lauren, Mia and Jordan; sisters Pat (Harlan) and Cheryl (George). He is also survived by his wife Kathy and her two children, Jason and Tracy; nieces, nephews and close friends.

 

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, at Heritage Funeral Home. His Celebration of Life service will be held at noon on Friday, Sept. 18, in the funeral home chapel.

 

Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required for all services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in his name to a charity of your choice.
